Download Fedora Server 33

You should download a live 64-bit image from the Fedora 33 server using the links below:

Installation of Fedora 33 server edition

When you have finished loading the image, you need to create a bootable CD/DVD or USB stick using the Unetbootin or dd command.

Once you have created the bootable media, continue with the installation by following these steps:

1. First select the work support/port and place the bootable media on it. There are two options, one of which is to install Fedora 33 immediately or to test the installation media for errors before starting the installation process.

Menu at the Fedora booth

2. Select the desired installation language and click Next.

Select the support for the installation language

3. Next you will see a screen below with a summary of the installation. Here you can configure various system settings, including keyboard layout, language support, system time and date, installation source, software to install, network and host name, and installation destination (drive).

Adjusting the keyboard layout

4. Use the + sign to add a keyboard layout, click Add, and then click Done to go to the installation overview interface.

Language support configuration

5. In this step you install your language support. Just find the language you want to install and click Add to install it.

Then click Done to complete the language support setting.

Defining the language support

Setting the system time and date

6. Time management on the server is very important, so in this step you can set the default time zone, time and date of the system.

If your system is connected to the Internet, the time is automatically determined when you turn on the network time, but you must set the time zone based on your location. When all these settings are set, click Finish and proceed to the next step.

Time and date setting

Configuring the installation floppy disk

7. In this step, configure the system partitions and file system types for each system partition. There are two ways to set partitions: one is to use automatic settings and the other is to set them manually.

In this manual I decided to do everything by hand. Click on a disk image to select it and choose Custom. Then touch Done to go to the next screen of the next step.

Select the target drive for installation

8. On the next screen select the default partition scheme from the drop down menu to create attachment points for the different partitions to be created in the system.

Installing the standard part

9. To add a new partition, use the + button, let’s start creating a root (/) partition, so indicate in the following window

Mounting point : /
Requested authority : 15 GB

The size of the partition I have installed here for the purposes of this manual can be adjusted to the size of the system drive of your choice.

Then click on Add Mount Point to create an attachment point for the partition.

Creation of a Root Partition

10. Each partition of the Linux system requires a type of file system, in this step you need to install the file system for the root file system created in the previous step, I used ext4 because of its features and good performance.

Define root file system type

11. Then create a home partition and a mount point where system user files and home folders are stored. Then click on Add a mount point, complete the configuration and proceed to the next step.

Creating a main section

11. You also need to set the file system type for your home partition, just as you did for the root partition. I also used Station 4.

Defining the type of the original file system

12. Here you need to create a swap partition, i.e. hard disk space for temporary storage of additional data in the system’s random access memory, on which the system will not actively run if the random access memory is depleted. Then click Add Attachment to make room for pumping.

Creating stock removal section

13. When you have created all the necessary attachments, click Finish in the top left corner.

Below is an interface that allows you to make changes to your player. Press the Accept changes button to continue.

Network configuration and host name

14. In the previous step, return to the Control Panel and click Network and Host Name to set your host name.

To configure the system’s network settings, click Configure… and the following screen appears.

Setting the network host name

15. Here you can configure many network settings, including the IP address of the server, the default gateway, the DNS server, and much more.

Since this is a server, you must manually select the configuration method from the drop-down menu. Scroll through the settings to customize other network functions and features to meet the requirements of your environment.

Once you have installed everything, click the Save button and then click Finish in the top left corner to complete the network and hostname configuration. You will return to the Installation overview window to start the actual installation of the system files.

Setting up the network interface

16. There are two more important things to do at the installation: You must set the root user password and an additional system user account.

Click the PASSWORD FOR ROOT button to set the password for the main user. When you are finished, click Done and proceed to the next step.

Creating a root password

17. To create an additional user account, simply click the Create USERS button and enter the desired information.

You can optionally assign administrator rights and set a password for the user as in the interface below, and then click Finish after installation.

Create a new user account

18. Start the actual installation of the Fedora 33 server system files by clicking the Start Installation button at the bottom of the screen.

FeederFeeder 33 Installation

19. Then sit down, wait for the installation to complete, click on the Reset button in the lower right corner and restart your computer. Then uninstall the installation media and boot up on Fedora 33.

I think the steps above were, as always, simple and straightforward and I hope everything went well. You are now ready to run Fedora 23 on your server machine.
